Meet Our Advisors
Dr. Larry Ponemon
Dr. Larry Ponemon is the Chairman and Founder of the Ponemon Institute, a research “think tank” dedicated to advancing privacy, data protection and information security practices. Dr. Ponemon is considered a pioneer in privacy auditing and the Responsible Information Management (RIM) framework. Security Magazine named him one of the “Most Influential People for Security.”
Ponemon Institute conducts independent research, educates leaders from the private and public sectors and verifies the privacy and data protection practices of organizations in a various industries. In addition to institute activities, Dr. Ponemon is an adjunct professor for ethics and privacy at Carnegie Mellon University’s CIO Institute. He is a fellow of the Center for Government Innovation at the Unisys Corporation.
Dr. Ponemon is a column editor for Computerworld, CSO Magazine, BNA, Dark Reading and other leading publications. He is a frequent commentator on privacy and business ethics for CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Financial Times, Bloomberg, Business 2.0, Newsweek, Business Week, U.S. News & World Report, CIO Magazine, Industry Standard, Boston Globe, InfoWorld, InformationWeek, Forbes, Fortune, CFO Magazine, Dow Jones News and others.
Dr. Ponemon earned his Ph.D. at Union College in Schenectady, New York. He has a Master’s degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and he attended the doctoral program in system sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Ponemon earned his Bachelor’s with Highest Distinction from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
Dr. Lloyd Verstuft
Dr. Lloyd Verstuyft graduated from Southwest High School, San Antonio, Texas in 1981. Upon graduation Dr. Verstuyft attended Lubbock Christian College and Texas Tech University. He returned to San Antonio and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Texas in San Antonio in 1989. After graduating from UTSA, Dr. Verstuyft returned to his high school alma mater and began his teaching career. While teaching at Southwest Independent School District he continued his studies and completed his Master of Science in Educational Administration at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas in 1993. He then completed the Superintendent program at UTSA in 2002 and his Doctoral degree at Texas A&M University, College Station in 2010.
Dr. Verstuyft has been employed in different capacities at SWISD for twenty-seven years. His professional experience includes three years as a teacher/coach; two years as a middle school assistant principal; six years as middle school principal; four years as high school principal; two years as Executive Director of Administration and Pupil Service; five years as Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Human Resources; and is currently serving in his seventh year as SWISD’s Superintendent of Schools.
During his professional career, Dr. Verstuyft has had the privilege to work with some of the best staff and students associated with any school organization. During his teaching years Dr. Verstuyft received the “Teacher of the Year” Award in 1992 from the McNair Middle School staff. Upon entering the administration arena, his leadership assisted McAuliffe Middle School and Southwest High School to gain recognitions at the state and national level.
Enrique Sanchez
Enqrique Sanchez is a High-energy and highly adaptable businessman with nearly 30 years of experience. He's expanded his knowledge from all walks of life in businesses of all sizes, including his own. Recognizing his strengths as a servant leader, Enrique honed the ability to make the most out of challenging situations. His track record includes turning around cash-burning enterprises into healthy, profitable, high-return ventures, having successful capital markets events raising over $350M, participated in successful IPO's during his time with Big 6 accounting, been on both sides of M&A transactions of nearly $1Bn of total value, and grown and exited various businesses of his own.
Tom Gallo
Tom Gallo is an experienced senior executive with a demonstrated history of success working in the global information technology industry. Tom is highly skilled in Strategic Sales, Team Building, Business Planning, Go-to-Market Strategy, Software as a Service (SaaS), Global Business Partner relationships, and Mergers & Acquisitions. Tom is a strong revenue delivery professional with a Bachelor of Science (BS) focused on International Relations and National Security Studies from the United States Naval Academy.
